Description
Sunset along the Tuolumne River in the Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite, California
I spent my Monday in Yosemite driving up and down the Tioga Road. For sunset, I thought I'd try my luck in the Tuolumne Meadows. A few hours before sunset I started walking around looking for a good spot. I liked this spot along the Tuolumne River so I set up and waited. Just to the right of the big rock on the right of the frame on a small patch of land in the middle of the river was someone fly fishing. Also, some kids ran around along the rocks going from one side of the stream to the other.
It was colder here than up on Glacier Point. The ledge I was on here also was uneven with holes and crevices in them. I was just hoping that nothing lived in them as I didn't want something to crawl out and attack me while I was taking pictures.
I waited until the whole river and most of the meadow was in the shade so that there was only sunlight left on the mountains in the background before taking this shot. To keep everything exposed properly, I used a .9 ND Soft Grad + .6 ND Soft Grad. No HDR here.
Next time I'm back in Yosemite, I think I'll spend more time in the high country than down in the valley. There are so many great and less common views to be seen.
